I'm Getting Paper

Sometimes you may want to present a nice table setting but for whatever reason it isn't practical. Maybe you don't have a nice collection of linens and china. Maybe your event is away from home and you don't want to have to cart everything back and forth. Or maybe you just have a large group coming and don't want to have to worry about spending a lot of time with clean up.

That's where paper comes in. You can set yourself up with a nice tablescape all from shopping at your local grocery store. (Yes, it's true!)

Everything on this place setting is either paper or plastic except for the napkin ring.

(And yes, it is sideways. I obviously don't have a web designer or really a clue what I'm doing for that matter...)

The tablecloth is made from wrapping paper. The white plate is Chinet. The floral plate and green napkins are Dixie and were on clearance. The clear cup is Solo. The flatware looks like silver but are actually plastic--super cool! The napkin ring is the only thing that isn't disposable. It was 50 cents at Goodwill.

For this setting I just added a charger and a glass. The only thing that would need to be washed would be the glass. (So still minimal work.) A wonderful centerpiece could also be created with flowers or fresh fruit from the grocery.

Although this place setting is a little on the simple side, it is still a big step up from your standard stack of white paper plates alongside a pile of white plastic flatware. And my favorite thing about using paper--NO dishes!

(Next post: paper food?)
