This year for my birthday, my in laws gave me a gift they knew I would love. Subscriptions to design and decor magazines! Yes, I know that nowadays you can look up magazines online but it really is no substitute for being able to hold that glossy magazine in your hands and flip through the pages. (I feel the same way about books--sorry, Kindle.) Before I discovered the online world of design and decor blogs, shelter magazines were my largest source of inspiration. (I just like looking at pretty things.) My new subscriptions are for Veranda, Interior Design, House Beautiful, Elle Decor and Architectural Digest.
I simply love the kitchen above featured in the December 2010 issue of Architectural Digest. It was decorated by designer, Alexa Hampton.
So today I am thankful for shelter magazines. A little indulgent for sure but it's certainly fun looking at the beautiful pictures and dreaming.
