His and Hers Nightstands

Finally! It feels as though I've been working on these nightstands forever. (Or at least just a very long time...)

This is the before. I scored two Drexel nightstands from Goodwill for $5.99 a piece. They were sturdy and well made.

Unfortunately the finish had seen better days.

I sanded, primed and painted them in Rustoleum's Heirloom White. Then I distressed them.

Here is the AFTER. His and Hers nightstands.

I removed the old hardware and filled in the holes with minwax wood filler.

I added "crystal" knobs from Home Depot.

A friend of mine has a vinyl business and made the His and Hers.

I originally planned on hand painting the His and Hers on the drawer fronts but decided later that it would be better to actually be able to read them.

So one more time. Here is the before.

And here is the after. (Yes, I tried to make it look even better by staging it with irises--is it working?)

I think they're slightly awesome.

  9. Love them. I agree with the vinyl lettering, I'm always too nervous to hand paint. I just need a friend with a vinyl lettering business too! Laughed about the flowers - you don't need them. The nightstands are beautiful on their own.
