Hooked on Houses

Do you have a blog you like to visit (other than Charming of course) that is pure indulgence? A blog that you know will be filled with eye candy? A blog for those of us with a deep appreciation (slight obsession) for a beautiful house? Hooked on Houses is one such blog. Julie from Hooked on Houses does her research to showcase homes from movies, t.v. and celebrities.

The beautiful house above is from the movie Hope Floats starring Sandra Bullock. It is located in Smithville, Texas. I absolutely love the curved front porch and veranda.

This charming bungalow is from the movie, Daddy Day Care starring Eddy Murphy. If you haven't seen this movie you are missing out! (No, not on the boxing carrot and broccoli scene or the comedic timing.) The interiors are to die for! Absolutely gorgeous! I would LOVE to have my house look like this one for sure.

One of my favorite houses of all time is the home in the movie, Father of the Bride starring Steve Martin and Diane Keaton. To me, this is the perfect family home. I can't tell you how many times I've watched this movie just to look at the house. (Yes, I know that would be considered a little weird by some...)

This house looks very similar to the Father of the Bride house but was actually used in the movie, Mr. and Mrs. Smith starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. The house has a very traditional look but in the movie, the interior was more in line with a very elegant New York penthouse.

While the movie plots (and actors' looks) are all about fantasy and perception, so (sadly) is the reality of the movie house. Most of the scenes nowadays are actually filmed in a staged set. So the outside pictures will be of a gorgeous home on location and all the interior shots will be taken on a manufactured set. So it's a little disappointing but oh how gorgeous those sets can be!

Hooked on Houses also showcases celebrities' homes which is very interesting for nosy types like me. The above picture is the elegant living room for new American Idol judge, Jennifer Lopez. It looks pristine. This is a wonderfully staged photo from the magazine, Veranda. J-Lo has young twins. (I wonder in real life if that white carpet has grape juice stains like mine.)

Beautiful kitchen. I guess this is where J-Lo slaves over a hot stove putting dinner on the table every night.

I really like this room. (Except for the chandelier.)

Love THIS chandelier!

A celebrity with a little different taste, Christina Aguilera's gameroom. It's definitely filled with personality. (Love those chandeliers!) Apparently Christina's house used to belong to Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne. She redecorated it to better suite her own taste.

A calm and soothing place to unwind after a hectic day.

I invited Christina and her son, Max to pose in front of my shoe closet. (Because I'm nice like that.)

Here is her son's nursery. What a coincidence! I had the exact same nightmare inducing moon in my baby's room, too!

So if you want to peruse a blog that is a lot of fun, you should give Hooked on Houses a read. Definitely worth it.
