Well, didn't happen with this one.
I wanted to inject a bolder color in my home decor. I love the color pink and thought that this Watermelon would do the trick. (In the previous post I called the color Raspberry--wrong fruit!)
As I was spraying the frames outside in the morning sun I was happy with the color. But once I started hanging them up inside--yuck! The color just doesn't look that great in my home. I don't know if it's the lighting or what. Anyway, slightly disappointing to say the least.
I actually really like the look...maybe if you hung a few less frames from waist height up, then added a small console table (maybe a vintage gold color console) with a teal color vase with pink tulips...it might balance out more. Do you have room for a console table in that space?
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I agree with Tabitha, I like the pink! But, if you don't love it then it's easy to keep changing it till you do! I do love the different textures you have, and can't wait to see the finished project!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestions. That area is basically just a walkway so I wouldn't be able to add any furniture. The beauty of paint is that I can keep painting until I get it right!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog through tatertots and jello!! I actually totally like the pink - I love that you left a few gold accents in there!! But you are the one who has to live with and look at it everyday - so I say do what you will love!! I love the arrangement!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pink! :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the pink!! I have been wanting to do one of these for a long time. Gotta work on finding all the cool frames. :)
ReplyDeleteI love it both ways!
ReplyDeleteWoW!! I love the pink!! It looks great!!!
ReplyDeleteI actually like the pink, and the before pic. I recently did this but with white frames. How about Aqua (my other go-to color)??
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog through tatertots and jello.I love the way it looks!
ReplyDeleteI do love the idea of painting (even if your first try wasn't a success). I like the idea of using the frames as the art. Show us when you get the right color!

I like the pink color in these pictures. Nice idea.
ReplyDeleteFor pink, I have been using Valspar's Sweet Pea.... You can see it in the chandelier post on my blog. (and the shelves in the background) The color is a little off b/c it was dark out when i took the pictures

I love the pink. In fact, last week, I just painted some accents with that same spray paint color. I loved how mine turned out. However, mine is in a room with a lot of sunlight to show off the pink. I think it may just be your low lighting in that space. I do love the original too though. In this case, I agree with you and think the gold did look best on that wall paint. Best of luck finding one you are happy with.

I love this! It looks so awesome and brings so much character to the space!
ReplyDeleteI am with the others, I love the pink! I think it is the perfect pop of color for a small space.
ReplyDeleteI love both the before and after too. Have you thought about changing the light bulbs in that area? Sometimes that can make a big difference.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck and thanks for keeping it real.

Pink makes everything better! Love it! :)
ReplyDeleteI would love it if you shared this at my linky party @ {nifty thrifty sunday} (it'll be open till Wed night)!
xoxo,

loving the pink!
ReplyDeleteLove it! I think it looks great! If all it takes it a can of spray paint I would change the color every season!
ReplyDeleteI'm with many of the others (I love all things pink)--but you must do what makes you happy in your own home! I've also had many of those "Oh wait, this is going to be slightly less fantastic than anticipated and I might actually even hate it" moments. Live and learn. :)
ReplyDeleteThe wall just makes me smile! So unique and interesting.

I can totally relate to liking the before better than the after! I just painted a few frames that exact color... with the same results. But It does look cute :) good luck figuring it out

i can totally relate to your colour problems -- having even more options for each colour when buying tintable cans of paint vs spray paint cans, it's hard to pick which one of 3 or 4 paint chips of each colour you want to use!! i ended up picking a green for my kitchen because i loved the chip & hated it once it was on the walls. was it because we didn't prime the walls first so the existing yellow came through (even after 3 coats!)? i'll never know, but changing the lighting from a 'soft white' bulb to a 'natural light' bulb made the world of difference!! so yes, you might want to play around with the lighting before you spend the time & energy picking a new colour & repainting everything.
ReplyDeleteoh, man, I love the "before"! The mix of metal finishes is so pretty! This isn't helping, is it? Sorry!
