HomeGoods Fieldtrip

I've been seeing all the great items across blogland that people are finding at HomeGoods. I decided that it was time that I took a little field trip to check it out myself. Now, to be honest, I had been to this HomeGoods one time before when it first opened. It is the only one in our town and is far away from my house. (I had been to the HomeGoods in St. George, Utah while visiting my grandparents a few times and so I was excited for one to be built in our city.) Unfortunately, on my first visit I was a little disappointed. It is quite small and didn't have a very good selection. So I hadn't been back.

My daughter and I decided to give Home Goods another chance and took the long trek out to see it. I liked the look of this chair but wasn't crazy about the price. (Once you start buying used and fixing items up yourself, it's hard to go back to spending retail...)

This large mirror caught my eye. I think it would look great painted or even as is. Unfortunately, I didn't have a place in mind for it.

I thought this lamp was pretty. It reminded me of something that would go well in a nursery.

I really liked these ocean inspired dishes.

I thought this seahorse platter was darling. It ended up coming home with us.

This subway art canvas was huge! But for $80 I thought we could do better.

Pillows! This is one of the things we came here for.

My daughter chose two for her room.

And I found a queen bee pillow! I've been looking for one ever since I fell in pillow love with one on etsy.

This is the etsy pillow that I had my eye on. I wanted a queen bee graphic and I loved the design. So why didn't I snatch it up? Even though it was handmade and super darling, I just wasn't ready to spend $40 for a pillow. (Call me frugal, call me cheap, call me thrifty, call me crazy--I just couldn't do it.)

So even though this graphic may not be as cute as the etsy one, it looks great in my house and I love it! (And the $14.99 price is easier to handle, although I'm sure I could have made one myself and spent even less. A project for a different day, though...)

On this particular visit, HomeGoods redeemed itself and received two thumbs up!

  1. Thanks for sharing with us your visit to Home Goods. My relationship with them is kind of up and down - sometimes they have things I want, sometimes not. I'm like you, tho, don't really want to pay retail :) Thanks also for visiting my blog at Redo 101 and for your sweet comment - glazing was something I knew nothing about so I'm glad to learn that it's mostly for the cracks and sanded-off spots, which I still haven't had the nerve to do :) Come back anytime to visit, and I'll visit you often.

  2. OK, I guess I should give my Home Goods another chance too. I went a couple years ago and wasn't impressed...I've never been back. It didn't seem like they had that good of deals, but I'll have to look again.
