A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Rock and Roll

This Summer (as we went on our epic 2,000 mile trip) we went to visit my parents who live in a tiny little town out in the country.  The kids really enjoyed going on horseback rides with their Grandpa (who is a country boy) and going shopping with their Grandma (who is definitely a city girl.)  So in honor of our country vacay I am featuring two countryish coffee tables that I absolutely adore!

A few days ago as I was catching up on my decor magazine reading, I came across this fabulous wire spool turned coffee table in Country Living Magazine.  An old spool was painted, dowels were added to create a book shelf (brilliant!) and wheels were added for style (and function.)  Truly a fun idea!  I'm sure I could find room for it somewhere.  (Of course, I think my kids would have fun sitting on the top and spinning each other around until someone fell off.)  It's multi-functional.

Taunnie from Mingled Elements wanted an antique style warehouse cart coffee table.  She wasn't able to find one she liked (that didn't cost a fortune.)  No biggie, she just asked her handy husband to make her one!  (Love those creative types.  He is probably the type of person that Handyman Magazine is geared towards.  With articles like, "You can build a full sized guest house over the weekend."  We actually have a subscription to Handyman mag ourselves but are just able to look at the pretty pictures...)  Well, back to Lucky Taunnie and her talented husband.  He did an amazing job!  I absolutely love it.  I volunteer to babysit the coffee table at my house the next time they go on vacation.  (Just trying to be helpful...)  Be sure to stop by Taunnie's blog, Mingled Elements to read the full scoop.

So to those who recognized my Donnie and Marie Osmond reference in the post title.  ("I'm a little bit country, I'm a little bit rock and roll...")  Good job!   The coffee tables have a country influence, they're so cool that they rock, and of course they roll.

Lastly, I thought I'd end with this horse photo.  It has nothing to do with coffee tables but I find it amusing nonetheless.  (My dad sprays the horses off with a hose after they've been ridden and then they immediately roll around in the dirt.  It's pretty funny to watch.)
