30 Days of Gratitude (Day 16) Second hand.

Today as I was pawing through the items in a local thrift store, I came across a vintage looking metal ice bucket.  It had such an interesting shape and both the bucket and the lid were in excellent condition with a hallmark from Italy on the bottom.  I had been looking for an ice bucket for quite some time so I was excited to find it.  Two different ladies each commented on how nice the bucket was as I was bringing it up to the front of the store to check out.

My friend, LeeAnne (she has power tools) made the monogrammed "S" for me out of an old door and some rusty hardware.  Aside from me loving the look of this piece, it was nice to know that forgotten items of the past were able to be re purposed.  Many items in my house are second hand.

So today I am thankful for Second Hand items whether they're vintage or just something that was previously owned.  I find that second hand things are much more interesting and creative than matching furniture from a big box store.

  1. I L-O-V-E thrifting! Some of the most beautiful, welcoming homes I've had the pleasure of visiting, were a combination of old and new. I think it adds a sense of character that simply can't be bought! Great post!
