Are Pigs the Next Big Thing?

It seems as though I've been seeing a lot of pigs around the design and decor scene lately.  These winged porcine lamps from Art Works Studio lend a bit of whimsy.  In addition to white and pink, the lamp is also available in yellow or black.  (I have dibs on the white one.)

Designer Jonathan Adler is selling a polka dotted pig canister complete with mini bacon chocolate bars.  (bacon and chocolate?  Who knew?)
And if you didn't get enough piggy spottiness, there is also a butter dish available.

West Elm currently has a pig speaker with a monogram option.   (Plug the cord where the tail should be.)

A sweet little piglet perched atop a teapot.

Certain images cycle through popularity.  Remember the mushroom explosion of the 1970's?  It was the height of decor along with the colors brown, orange, gold and avocado.  Even kitchen appliances experienced the trend of these colors.   (Remember your mother's or grandmother's kitchen?)

And who can forget the country charm of the geese invasion of the 1980's where dusty rose and powder blue reigned supreme?

Owls have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity the last few years.  Originally a hit in the 1970's, today's owl is a little more modernized in color like this cookie jar from Anthropologie.

Is the popularity of pigs in decorating something you would embrace?   Would you display this piggy table from Milan House in your home?  It would definitely be a conversation piece.

So what do you think of the oncoming trend of pigs in decor?  Are they here to stay?  We could just ask this little guy sporting his Wellington boots.   (photographed by Richard Austin in the Irish Examiner)
