Silverware Caddy

I had been patiently looking for a silverware caddy for most of the year and happily found one last month at Goodwill.

Wasn't it lovely?  (I especially dug the fruit trio on the side.)  As fabulous as it was though, it definitely needed a makeover.

I cleaned it up and primed it with Kilz spray primer.  I then finished it with a few coats of Rust-oleum Heirloom White and lightly sanded the edges.

Here is the finished caddy.  I'm still deciding on whether to add an embellishment to the oval section on the side.  Perhaps a vintage letter, number or pull.  A word done in vinyl?  Or maybe I'll just leave it as is.

The little pewter cup was found at a Goodwill store, too.  It sports a pineapple on the front (a symbol of welcome) but the surprise was when I turned it over and discovered our family name engraved on the bottom of the cup.  (So cool!)  I guess it was meant for me.

Once more, here is the before, greatly in need of some TLC.

And the finished after.  (I'm loving it.)

  6. Sweet find! I love the makeover. How 'bout a monogram on the oval space, because that cutie is steal worthy.
