It's March 2nd but I realized that I never shared my Valentine's Day mantel. (Such a slacker!) So let's just pretend that it's still February, shall we?
I laid them out over the living room floor hoping that inspiration would hit while my furry assistant assessed the collection.
I decided on a layout having each mirror represent a member of our family and then hung them on the wall over the fireplace mantel to see if I liked the placement. (They stayed that way for a few days.)
I then broke out the spray paint and painted mine and my daughter's mirrors Rustoleum Heritage White and my husband and boys' mirrors Krylon Bright Red. I had black vinyl silhouettes made to represent each member of our family and placed them on the mirrors.
So here is the finished Valentine's silhouette mantel design. (I also had a Valentine banner hanging from the mantel but took it down after February 14th.)
Now I need to start thinking about a St. Patrick's day mantel!
What about you? Do you change your mantel decor with the holidays?

I only change my mantel for Christmas in terms of holidays. Other times I just change it to get a new look. I think I envy those who have the time and the stuff to change it for the holidays. I can get the stuff (read make the stuff), but after a full day at my flower shop my energy level is zero. I also have to do a considerable amount pf visual merchandising at the shop. So even when I have the energy, the ideas sometimes don't come.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I love the colors!
