I went with a primarily yellow, white and grey palette. Fresh yellow flowers in a white pitcher was an easy way to bring color into the room.
I used inspiration from Martha Stewart's monochromatic Easter basket (post here) to create an Easter centerpiece.
I started off with eggs and cooked them on the stove until they were hard boiled.
I then used yellow Easter egg dye from the grocery store. (It was only $1) I tried to color the eggs in three different intensities of yellow to give them more dimension.
For something a little different I used a white soup tureen instead of a basket. Yellow paper filler and the three eggs were added. I caught a white chocolate bunny for the focal point and added a little yellow and grey pinwheel (see tutorial) on a yellow no.2 pencil. To complete the look, I added the rest of the scrapbook paper to a grey frame for the background. I used some other yellow embellishments and brought a yellow, white and grey tablecloth I found at Target last year for the rest of the decor. (Unfortunately, I failed to take any pictures of the finished tables at the actual event so you'll just have to imagine it looking spectacular.)
I have the yellow decor back at home now and actually like the pops of yellow in my kitchen. And who knows, I may look to add more in the future. (A yellow breakthrough!)
Have you taken a chance with a color that in the past you've either ignored or been afraid of?
That looks very sweet! I'm sure it was a hit at the luncheon!

ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to like yellow, too. I think it pairs well with many other colors.
